Tishina's Confessor is one of 46 bosses in Mortal Shell 2, fought in Prisoner's Domain. Beating it drops Confessor's Keepsake and Gloom.

Our take

The wall of the Prisoner's Domain: both roads through the region converge on this fight, directly outside the Nameless Captive's arena, so there is no way to the main boss that does not pass through him. The Confessor's Keepsake he drops is an Ability stone four sidearms take.

How to beat Tishina's Confessor

Getting there

The gatekeeper of the Prisoner's Domain: the region offers two roads toward the Nameless Captive's arena, and both of them arrive here, at this fight, directly outside it. There is no route around him, which makes this the wall of the region whether or not you were looking for a duel.

The drop is the Confessor's Keepsake, an Ability stone four of the eight sidearms can socket — a charged single shot heavy enough to build a ranged turn around. A mandatory fight paying out a stone you would have detoured for.

How the fight is shaped

A big warrior swinging something between a pickaxe and a scythe, and the number that matters is not the weapon's length but how far each swing carries him forward. The distance you open while he attacks closes while he attacks, which is what makes the fight feel faster than his speed says it should.

The arena is medium-sized and reads smaller: his reach plus his forward drift eats the room. Only one of our two sources documents the fight so far, so treat the specifics as one account — but the shape it describes matches the Confessor family this region is full of.

What to actually do

  1. Hold the centre of the roomEvery step he gains pushes the fight toward a wall, and against a wall two things go wrong at once: the camera pins into an angle you cannot read, and the space you needed for the dodge is gone. Circle back toward the middle between his strings rather than giving ground in a straight line.
  2. Dodge this one; save the parry lessons for laterHis rhythm can be parried, but the flow takes attempts to learn and the fight is mandatory — a dodge-focused Shell gets through on the first read. If you are carrying Tiel, this is a fight that plays to everything Tiel is for.
  3. Count to three on the wide swingsThe near-vertical swings come as a pair, one from each side — and then a third rises from below. The pair teaches a two-beat rhythm and the riser is priced to catch the player who learned it. Do not spend your opening until the third has passed.
  4. Respect the hiltUp close he strikes with the butt of the weapon, and if the first hit is not interrupted a second follows. It is the fastest thing he does; treat proximity to his hands as its own hazard, separate from the blade.
